As in the Bahrain races, even today, the drama has begun in the introductory round. This time, Lando Norris and Tadasuke Makino did not drive into the engine. Both had to start from the boxes.
In Bahrain, the two starts went smoothly, but today it was different. There was a collision between Louis Delétraz and Maximilian Günther in the opening corner. For Swiss, the Czech team Charouz Racing System was final. The German had only a “tire defect”. In the opening round, Luca Ghiotto resigned as well, who turned and crashed into a concrete wall. The safety car went out and the race was neutralized for a few minutes.
Restart went round without collisions, but there was no need for trouble. Arjuna Maini’s car began to “get angry,” and the Indians were raging. After long efforts to solve this mechanical problem, he gave up and became another resignation of this race. Even German leading Maximilian Günther of Arden also resigned from the race. Meanwhile, he began to drive into the boxes for a mandatory stop.
After the pit stop, George Russell came first. Alex Albon fell to third place. The second was Nyck de Vries.
A great race had one of the season’s newcomers Roy Nissan, who was in fifth place. Twelve rounds before the end, however, Israeli crashed and dropped his chance to win his first points in F2. So the safety car had to get back on track.
The first restart of the race was quiet, but this was a great drama. Nyck de Vries blocked the front tires and did not make the first turn. Unfortunately, the race was ruined by Russell, who was blocked by the Dutchman and dropped to the last place. He also lost Arto Markelov, who also blocked the front wheels. Alex Albon also made a minor mistake. Antonio Fuoco from the Czech team Charouz Racing System was so unexpectedly in the race.
Artem Markel’s problems continued. After dropping out of scores of ten, the engine exploded and the race did not finish. The Nyck de Vries, who had damaged the race, had also to withdraw from the race. Antonio Fuoco fell to third place in the meantime.
The event was eventually won by Alex Albon, the second being Jack Aitken and the third Antonio Fuoco. Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara reached fourth, and Nicholas Latifi, Canadian Nicosia, was the first five to enter the race. Just behind them came Lando Norris, Ralph Boschung and Roberto Merhi, who will start from the pole position tomorrow. The rest of the scores were Tadasuke Makino and Sean Gelael.
Tomorrow’s race begins at 11:00 and can be viewed on the Sport 2 channel.
